New Zealand Cricket - 13 May 2002

New Zealand Cricket has appointed Julie Reynolds as manager of the TelstraClear White Ferns for their month long tour of the Netherlands, Ireland and England.

Reynolds joins New Zealand Cricket after working for the last 10 years in various administrative roles for Christchurch-based sports injury management company, SportsMed.

Reynolds has played sport at the highest level and was a member of the all-conquering Black Ferns side in 1992-1995.

She also played loose forward for the Canterbury women's rugby team from 1992-1998 and was captain from 1995-1998.

Reynolds is the current manager of the University Rugby Club, a role she has filled since 1997.

For the last two years she has been assistant coach of the Canterbury women's rugby team and coach of the Rangi Ruru Girls High School First XV - winners of last year's Canterbury secondary school rugby championship.

"Julie has experience as a sportswoman at the highest level and an understanding of the sort of team environment required to be successful at this level," said New Zealand Cricket operations manager John Reid.

"She also has excellent organisational skills which are a key element to a management position of this nature."

The team leaves for the Netherlands on June 21.
