Junior Sabres Bash now open to all on Saturday
SOMERSET - 27 March 2002

The Junior Sabres Bash which is scheduled to take place on Easter Saturday morning has now been thrown open to all youngsters who would like to attend.

The Junior Sabres ,who are the Somerset County Cricket Club members up to the age of twenty one, will be gathering at the Centre of Excellence at the County Ground on Saturday for their traditional pre-season bash.

Traditionally the event has been very well attended and all of those who have attended have thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Membership secretary Jo Betsworth told me earlier today," We have already got a large number of members attending, but have now decided to throw open the invitation to all youngsters, both boys and girls, who are interested in cricket or who want to find out more about the Junior Sabres and have some fun."

Activities booked to take place will include the Coca Cola inflatable, face painting, cricket coaching and bowl at a player and an appearence by Professor Popcorn, so there will be plenty going on to occupy those who attend.

The action gets underway at 11 am on Saturday and lasts until 1.30pm. The event is free to Junior Sabre members , but all others will be asked to pay £1 to attend what should be a really great morning.

I even hear that those players who have agreed to turn up to be bowled at are gearing themselves up specially for the event- so don't disappoint them!

To help Jo Betsworth to coordinate numbers it would be a help if those who are intending to be at the bash could give her a ring on 01823 272946.
