For the first time ever Somerset have got a girl's representative team at Under 15's level.
Training for the new team will start on Wednesday April 10th, and the county are currently looking to recruit players to make up the team.
Anyone who is interested, or who would like to recommend somebody for the initial practice and coaching session on April 10th should contact Mrs Pat Siderfin on 01373 453957.
Pat Siderfin is the mother of former England International cricketer Jan Godman who has just got her level 3 ECB coaching award, and she will be running the coaching session on April 10th.
On the following three Wednesdays, April 17th, 24th and May 1st the sessions, which are between 8 and 10pm will be open to any woman who would like to go along and have a practice session in the indoor nets at the Centre of Excellence in Taunton.
Somerset Cricket Development Officer Andrew Moulding told me, "We have promoted women's cricket in the county for a number of years, but this is the first time that we have run an Under 15's side."
He continued, "This will follow on the good work done in the schools, starting with Kwik Cricket, and now following on with Inter Cricket."
Mr Moulding added, "As part of the development of girl's cricket in Somerset, starting in April we are running Under13 coaching sessions in five regional centres, Minehead, Yeovil, King Alfred School at Highbridge, Wells and Castle School in Taunton."
Anyone who is at all interested in any of the above items or any aspect of girl's cricket should contact Andrew Moulding at the Centre of Excellence, on 01823 352266
