Kent renew bursary support for Bingham
Media Release - 13 March 2002

Kent County Cricket Club today announced that, for the second consecutive year, the J & K Huntley Bursary has been awarded to young wicket-keeper and batsman, Kenny Bingham. The bursary is sponsored jointly by Kent County Cricket Club and The University of Kent at Canterbury.

In addition to appropriate academic qualifications, applicants must demonstrate significant cricketing potential and have played at least at County level in junior/youth cricket. All parties involved in the decision-making process agreed that Kenny, who is studying for a Degree in European Management, had proved himself to be an excellent recipient of the award and had demonstrated clearly his commitment to both his sport and his studies.

Commenting on this award KCCC Staff Coach, Chris Stone, said: "Kenny has risen to the challenges put before him and has progressed as a player. I have no doubt that the continued support of the J & K Huntley Bursary will help him to move closer to his ambition of playing professional cricket."

Mike Wilkins, Director of Sport at the University, added: "The University of Kent is proud to be in partnership with Kent County Cricket Club in awarding the J & K Huntley Bursary. This year's recipient, Kenny Bingham, has proved himself most worthy of the award. He is a talented and dedicated sportsman who plays cricket for Kent and rugby for Canterbury City Rugby Club. He is very supportive of University sport and plays and coaches for both the Cricket and Rugby Clubs."
