PCB gives presentation to ACB team Pakistan Cricket Board - 1 March 2002
A detailed presentation on organizational matters, including the security plan for the Australian Cricket team during their visit to Pakistan in September, was given to the three member Australian Team on Friday at the PCB Headquarters Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The visiting Australian team consisting of Tim May, President Australian Playing Association, Team security Manager Reg Dickason and ACB General Manager Operations, Richard Watson, had earlier arrived in Lahore from Karachi. They are on a scheduled pre-tour reconnaissance visit to Pakistan. The presentation and discussion was made by senior PCB and Lahore police officials. A similar presentation will be made to the New Zealand Cricket Manager Geff Crowe on his arrival in Lahore on Sunday. The plan encompasses all aspects of the visitor's security, ranging from the time of their arrival, to stay at the hotel, their movements within the city, practice sessions and the match at the Stadium. Full security will be ensured at all points with the help of screening by electronic machines at the entry / exit gates and at parking spaces. Plain clothed security men will also be posted at the hotel and within the stadium for the extra security, and the team movement will be made smoother by deploying a traffic pilot. By establishing an overall Command and Control Room, proper coordination with all civilian agencies, will also be ensured.
The team from Australian and New Zealand on their pre-tour reconnaissance mission are also visiting various other proposed venues to look at all aspects of the tour including playing conditions, hotels and other facilities, as per the past practice. Many aspects are as per standing operating procedure. However requirements of the visitors have been fully accommodated.
