Somerset Cricket Board launch their new Development plan for the next four seasons
Richard Walsh - 5 March 2002

In response to a request from the E.C.B. the Somerset Cricket Board have just launched their new Development Plan for recreational cricket in the county for the next four seasons.

Cricket Development Officer Andrew Moulding told me, "In each county we were asked to set year on year strategies, and we have just launched ours which is contained inside a folder which features an action picture of Marcus Trescothick on the cover."

He continued, "The ECB have identified seven levels of cricket, and the Somerset Cricket Board are responsible for the first five, which cover Primary School, Secondary School, Club, District and Representative cricket."

The two levels that the Somerset Cricket Board are not responsible for are first class cricket and international cricket.

The Somerset Development plan was drawn up by a working committee of four, which was led by Andrew Moulding. The other members of the group were Tony Davies, Gordon Swinney and Paul Bulbeck, who has recently appointed Cricket Project Coordinator for the county. A vote of thanks is due to all four of the working group members.

The working party produced a draft which through the consultation process with clubs was amended and the final plan was approved very recently by the members of the Somerset Cricket Board.
