PCB briefs ACB delegation 2 March 2002
The three-member Australian team wasgiven a detailed presentation about organisational matters and security plans at the Gaddafi Stadium Friday for their cricket team's visit to Pakistan in September. The presentation was made by senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) managers and Lahore Police officials. A similar briefing awaits the New Zealand cricket manager Geoff Crowe on his arrival here Saturday. The plan covers all aspects of the visitors' security, ranging from their arrival, stay at hotels, movement within the city, practice sessions and the match at Gaddafi Stadium. Full security will be assured at all points with help of screening by electronic machines, at entry and exit points and parking places. Plain- clothed security staff will also be posted at the hotel and within the stadium and the team movement will be made smooth by deploying traffic pilot. By establishing an overall Command and Control Room, proper co- ordination with all civilian agencies will also be ensured. The teams from Australia and New Zealand will also visit proposed venues of matches to look at all aspects of the tour, including playing conditions, hotels and other facilities. Requirements of the visitors are being fully accommodated. © Dawn
