Loughborough crowned UCCE Champions ECB Media Release - 28 June 2002
Loughborough UCCE has won the University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (UCCE) Championship for the second year running by three points from Oxford UCCE. It therefore remains the only side to win the two-year old championship. Despite finishing on equal points with Cardiff / Glamorgan UCCE, Oxford took second place by means of scoring the most points in their match together. This means that Loughborough UCCE will play Oxford UCCE in the UCCE One-Day Challenge Final at Lord's on Tuesday 2 July. The six UCCE teams played one two-day, two-innings match against each other, with points awarded for an outright win, a win on first innings as well as batting and bowling bonus points.
