ICC Development International (IDI), the ICC's Monaco-based commercial operation, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Warren Deutrom as Cricket Events Manager.
Warren joins IDI from a similar position at the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), where he was Marketing Communications & Event Manager. His new role will see him leading and managing a small team of professional events personnel working on major ICC tournaments such as the Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka this autumn and the 2003 World Cup in South Africa.
In the longer term he will also contribute to the development and expansion of the ICC's cricket events portfolio, which currently includes four major tournaments: the World Cup, Champions Trophy, Under 19 World Cup and ICC Trophy, for Associate members.
"The ICC owns the rights to and organises the most prestigious portfolio of tournaments in world cricket and Warren's appointment is an important addition to the IDI management team. His previous experience as the ECB's first Event Manager and involvement in the 1999 World Cup provide him with excellent credentials for taking on this challenging and exciting new position," said IDI Managing Director Malcolm Speed.
Warren joins IDI in early July and will be based in the company's Monaco office, working closely with IDI Commercial Manager Campbell Jamieson.
