The Somerset Board XI fell foul of the weather yet again when their 38 County Cup match against Cornwall was abandoned yesterday without a ball being bowled. Board XI manager Peter Robinson told me: "When we arrived at North Perrott before the start of the match it was pretty murky overhead. The square was wet but the groundsman was happy for us to play. We wanted to play but Cornwall did'nt want to take any risks so the game was called off." `Robbo' continued: "This is the third game in the competition that we have lost to weather which was very disappointing for youngsters who were going to play for us." The Somerset Board XI are not due to play another match until the end of August when they play against Cornwall again at Camborne in the first round of the 2003 Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy. Peter Robinson concluded: "Lets hope that by then the summer will have arrived and we can get some cricket!" © SOMERSET
