Outer shell of Indoor Centre completed
Canterbury Cricket Association - 11 June 2002
The outer shell of the new Canterbury Cricket Indoor Training Centre has been completed with the walls and roof in place. When the facility on Iverson Terrace is complete, it will be the new home of Canterbury Cricket, housing the Association's administration offices and a state of the art four-lane practice complex.
The nets will be constructed on rails giving flexibility to use the facility for fielding drills as well as batting and bowling net sessions. The bowlers' run ups will be lined with a rubber padding for extra support and the batting strips will be designed allowing batsmen to experience varying batting conditions controlled by the density of the weave.
The opening is targeted for early August 2002 in time for pre-season practice for clubs, districts and schools. It is also likely the centre will be utilised by the State Canterbury Wizards and State Canterbury Magicians during their build up to the new season.
