The Somerset Board Eleven travel to Dean Park at Bournemouth on Sunday to take on Dorset in the 38 County Cup. Somerset were beaten in the last over of opening match by Wiltshire at Chippenham, and their match against Devon was washed out so they travel to Bournemouth knowing that if they are to progress to the next stage of the competition they need to get a victory. Board XI manager Peter Robinson has named a strong side to make the trip. The full team is: Tom Webley (Bournemouth Sports), Kevin Parsons (Taunton St Andrew's) Captain, Michael Coles (Bridgwater), Pete Trego (Somerset CCC), James Hudson (MCC Groundstaff), Gareth Andrew (Glastonbury) Joe Tucker (Somerset CCC) Kevin Sedgebeer and Matt Dimond,(both Taunton St Andrew's) and Mike Parsons,(Wembdon). Dorset were beaten earlier in the season by Devon so will also be keen to get a result from the match. The Somerset Board XI play their final match in the regional rounds of the 38 County Cup when they entertain Cornwall at North Perrott CC on Sunday June 16th. Peter Robinson told me earlier: "We need to win this match on Sunday to have any chance of going through to the next stages. We have got a good side out with a blend of youth and experience, and Dorset are a minor county side so will provide a good test for our youngsters." `Robbo' has fond memories of Dean Park at Bournemouth because that is where he played his first county championship match back in 1963, for Worcestershire against Hampshire. He told me: "We had three left armers so I didn't get much of a bowl, and then when I batted I was given out LBW by Jim Parks senior. I was never out, if I'd have stretched any further forward I'd have ruptured myself!" © SOMERSET
