Heavy storms have washed out the C&G Trophy semi-final between Yorkshire and Surrey at Leeds. The players will return to Headingley tomorrow in an attempt to complete the tie.

After nearly a week of hot weather, torrential downpours swept much of Scotland and northern England yesterday. Nearly two inches of rain has fallen in Leeds in the last 24 hours, leaving Headingley saturated. It left the umpires with no option but to take the unusual step of abandoning the day before the scheduled start time.

Presuming play gets underway on Thursday – and judging by the weather forecast this is by no means guaranteed – this is an enthralling semi-final. All of England's fit centrally-contracted players (with the exception of Graham Thorpe) will be available. Alex Tudor is fit again and will play for Surrey.

There is a second reserve day on Friday. If play is still not possible then, the semi-final will be decided by a bowl out.
