Frizzell Women's County Championship, Day Three ECB Media Release - 29 July 2002
Division One Yorkshire have tightened their grip on their County Championship crown by beating Nottinghamshire today by three wickets at King's College. Notts put on 175-7, with Dawn Holden top-scoring with 57. However, Yorkshire replied with 176-7, England's all rounder Melissa Reynard making 72. Once again, the pick of the Yorkshire bowling was Laura Spragg, England's young opening bowler.
Nottinghamshire: 175-7 Yorkshire: 176-7 (47.5 overs) Sussex have beaten Championship contenders Berkshire in a thrilling match by 11 runs at Pembroke College. England's young bowler Isa Guha, who made her debut this season in the one-day international triangular tournament against India and New Zealand took the wicket of her England Captain, Clare Connor before Sussex reached 124 all out. Caroline Atkins, England's record breaking test opening bat made 53 and took 3-35. Berkshire's Judith Turner took 6-39 from 8.5 overs. With a world class bowling attack which includes Connor and World Cup winner, Haidee Tiffen from New Zealand, Sussex managed to bowl out Berkshire for 113.

Staffordshire, who are without England's leading strike bowler Lucy Pearson, could not contain the Australian Olivia Magno playing for Surrey this season as she scored 108 from 112 deliveries.
Surrey: 201-8 Staffordshire: 172 all out Division Two Another Kent run feast at Queen's College saw them comfortably beat Derbyshire. Charlotte Edwards has added to her 151* on Day One, making 82 today with Paula Flannery, the Ireland international, making 118 as Kent finished on 248-5.
Kent: 248-5 Derbyshire: 66 all out (39.5) Lancashire have beaten Middlesex by 31 runs at Fitzwilliam College.
Lancashire: 144 all out (42.1 overs) Middlesex: 113 all out (39.3 overs) Hertfordshire have beaten Somerset by five wickets at Gonville & Caius Ground despite 75 from England and Somerset all-rounder Laura Harper.
Somerset: 175-9 Hertfordshire: 177-5 (46.1 overs) Division Three Hampshire beat Wiltshire by seven wickets to maintain their unbeaten record at the Championship and edge nearer promotion at Trinity Old Field.
Wiltshire: 103-9 Hampshire: 104-3 (30 overs) Essex have beaten Cheshire by 2 wickets in a close match at St John's. England Development Squad bowler Alexis Mannion took 3 wickets before scoring 53* for Essex ensuring they took the points.
Cheshire: 129 all out (35.3 overs) Essex: 130-8 (34 overs) Warwickshire have thrashed Durham by 119 runs at Churchill College, with some solid top order batting including 62 for Taryn Keir and 48 for Louise Campton to thwart the newcomers to the Championship.
