Over the last two weeks Somerset Under 13's have enjoyed mixed fortunes. Against Gwent at Ponthir CC on June 30th, they lost by 59 runs. Batting first Gwent scored 164, with Ben Lyons taking 3 for 20 from his 8 overs. In reply Somerset Under 13's were all out for 105, Bradley Derrick top scoring with 25. Playing against Cornwall at Millfield on July 7th Somerset batted first and scored 137 for 9, with Ben Rudge top scoring with 22. In reply the visitors reached their target for the loss of six wickets, with Ali Barrowman ending with 2 for 28 from his 8 overs. Against Devon last weekend at West Buckland they enjoyed a change of fortune, and won by 6 wickets.Batting first Somerset scored 169 for 4, Alex Penn top scoring with 42, and Jack Cooper making 35. In reply Devon scored 161 for 6 in their overs, with Ben Rudge being the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 26 from his 8 overs. The Under 13's continued their winning streak when they beat Hampshire at Millfield School the following day. Batting first Hampshire were all out for 95, with Ben Lyons taking 3 for 4 from his 4 overs. Somerset reached their target for the loss of 7 wickets. © SOMERSET
