Somerset had to settle for a draw from their championship match against Yorkshire that ended at Scarborough this afternoon. Resuming on their overnight total of 258 for 6, Yorkshire were bowled out for 323, still 25 short of avoiding the follow on. It was slow left armer Ian Blackwell who captured vital wickets for the Cidermen this morning to end with the impressive figures of 37 overs 4 wickets for 49 runs, with Matt Bulbeck ending with 4 for 94. Following on Yorkshire openers Craig White (40) and Matthew Wood(30) put on 77, before the first wicket fell. In a short space of time the hosts had slipped to 92 for 3 and looked to be in danger until skipper Darren Lehmann hit a characteristic 75 to help to see his side to safety. By the close of play Yorkshire had reached 213 for 5 from 70 overs, 50 of which were equally shared between Ian Blackwell and Keith Dutch. Somerset take 11 valuable points from the draw to help in their quest for first division safety. After the close of play Kevin Shine told me: "It was an absolutely fantastic effort from the boys. The wicket went fairly flat and slow in the end. We have fielded for the last 2½ days, and stuck to it well. Ian Blackwell had superb figures, and they don't flatter him either. He really bowled well, which was very pleasing." The coach continued: "Once again we lost two hours to the weather yesterday, and that could have made all the difference to us getting a result. But in the end we get eleven points and I'm very proud of them all." © SOMERSET
