Congratulations to Kate and Darren Veness on the birth of their daughter Alicia Louise who weighed in at 7lbs 14 ozs when she arrived at 2.40 this morning at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Alicia Louise is Kate and Darren's first child, and there was no hiding the excitement on Dad's face when he appeared at the County Ground this afternoon, just before the Somerset Seconds game against Gloucestershire began.

When Darren, who is the Head of Injury Prevention at the club, walked across the field the moving message board announced `well done Mr and Mrs Daz!' a sentiment that is echoed by everybody who knows Kate and Darren.

All parties are doing very well, so congratulations to all!
