Sussex CCC are pleased to announce that an "Umer and Burhan Rashid Memorial Match" will take place at the County Ground, Hove on Friday September 13th, with an approximate start of 5pm. It will be a floodlit 20-over match, played in the format of next season's competition, and will be played by a Sussex XI and an Angus Fraser Invitation XI, thus bringing together the two County Clubs, Sussex and Middlesex, that Umer represented. Players will be confirmed nearer the date but will comprise of professional cricketers.

We want to celebrate the lives of Umer and Burhan and can think of no better way of doing so than by playing cricket. The emphasis of this evening is seeing the positive, remembering an integral member of the Sussex squad and ensuring his name remains in Sussex CCC's future.

It will be an evening full of entertainment from the players on the field to the events organised throughout; competitions, face-painting, coaching sessions.

A pre-match late lunch is planned with the players of both sides hosting individual tables. Details of how to book your place for this can be gained from the Marketing Department, 01273 827102.

Entrance will be through programme only, Members included, and these will be on sale from Monday August 5.

Funds raised from the evening will goes towards a memorial for Umer on our new electronic scoreboard which will be named after him.

The balance of the funds will be used to provide annual Umer Rashid spin clinics to provide high-class coaching for our up and coming young spinners.
