PCB clarifies erroneous press report Pakistan Cricket Board - 28 January 2002
A report in an English daily on Monday talks of "Illogical PCB data form sparking confusion". The fact is that the title and the report and quite misleading. The report portrays the objections of those non-genuine, inactive clubs who are likely to be affected by this exercise and those who do not have any worthwhile achievements. Then there are some contradictions in the report as well. For instance, at one place the report suggests that clubs should not have been asked about information regarding foreign tours, and then in the same breath goes on to mention that some good clubs have indeed made many foreign tours. The Proforma is self-expiantory and clearly indicates that columns not applicable to a club can be striked out, and there was no binding on the clubs to fill in each and every column. The purpose of the Proforma really was to create a date base after collection of all the relevant information. The same Proforma is also meant for the district associations.
The Proforma was in fact made out with great care and after a lot of deliberation, with the objective to bring in discipline in the club structure and enhance the credibility of genuine clubs, while at the same time act as a deterrent to inactive, bogus and fake clubs.
