Dawn Court freezes ICA accounts
29 January 2002

The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, Monday froze the accounts of Islamabad Cricket Association, presently run by Adhoc committee and asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to give its views till Feb 18.

On the last hearing of the petition filed by Secretary ICA Javadul Hasan, Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan had issued notice to the chairman PCB. When the case was taken up Monday, the PCB counsel demanded that more time be given for allowing PCB to submit its reply. The court granted the request but ordered that Adhoc committee whose status has been assailed should not operate the accounts of the ICA.

The petitioner has challenged the appointment of Adhoc committee to run the affairs of ICA, was violative of the constitution of PCB.

It is the second petition on the subject as the earlier one was disposed of when the counsel of PCB had contended that it was not maintainable as the PCB constitution had provided the forum.

The appeal was filed before the PCB by the petitioner which was rejected by the PCB.

Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, Monday issued notice to the Chairman PCB, and the President of Adhoc Committee Mr Mansoor who is running the affairs of ICA from last one year for January 28.
