Campbell cleared to play
Western Australian Cricket Association - 24 January 2002
Ryan Campbell has been declared fit to play for the Western Warriors in the Pura Cup game against Tasmania starting in Hobart tomorrow.
Campbell was given a fitness test this morning at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, under the eye of Warriors team management.
Warriors Coach Michael Veletta, Team Physiotherapist Ross Clifford and Tour Manager/State Selector Ron Bowe observed as Campbell was placed through a number of exercises, including a net batting session, wicket-keeping simulations and running between the wickets. Campbell proved he had recovered sufficiently enough from injury to play a four-day game.
Campbell injured his left thigh while wicket-keeping during the Warriors' comprehensive victory over the Victorian Bushrangers in the Pura cup game at the WACA ground.
Luke Ronchi will return to Perth from Hobart tomorrow. Ronchi flew to Hobart with the squad as a standby replacement for Campbell in the event that Campbell's injury did not recover in time for the start of the Pura Cup game.
