Lara: I should be fit to face India
CricInfo - 15 January 2002

Brian Lara is hoping that his fractured elbow will have recovered in time for India's tour of the Caribbean in April.

The Trinidadian batsman injured the elbow during the West Indies tour of Sri Lanka last month, but the plaster cast on his left arm has now been removed.

"I am about to get into physical therapy but cannot play any cricket now," Lara said.

"Hopefully I will be at full speed when the Indians arrive for their tour. I am very happy that I am on my way to recovery.

"The faster I can get back on the field of play, the better it will be for all concerned.

"It is a delicate and important part of my cricket but I do not plan to rush things. I plan to wait until I am 100%."

Lara averaged over 100 in the three-Test series in Sri Lanka.
