Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has been charged with dissent following an incident in tonight's one-day international match against New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Match referee Hanumant Singh cited McGrath following his reaction to umpire Bob Parry's decision to uphold a caught behind appeal against him from the bowling of left arm spinner Daniel Vettori at the conclusion of tonight's game.
Television replays captured McGrath verbalising his annoyance at the decision, a response which prompted the charge of misconduct to be brought against him by Singh under clause three of the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct.
McGrath, who faces a possible fine and/or suspension from his actions, was fined half of his match payment on a similar charge following a one-day international against India in Bangalore ten months ago.
He is also the third Australian player to be charged with a breach of the Code of Conduct this season following earlier appearances before match referees by Brett Lee and Steve Waugh.
It is expected that the results of tonight's hearing will be made public tomorrow.
McGrath's dismissal was the last in a match that New Zealand won by 23 runs.
