England Under-19 lose second warm-up match ECB Media Release - 8 January 2002
England Under-19 lost by five wickets against the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) Under-19 in Adelaide today, in their second one-day warm-up match before the ICC Under-19 World Cup starts later this month in New Zealand. Asked to bat first, England U19 made 178 for nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Worcestershire's Kadeer Ali top-scored with 51 off 71 balls with Gordon Muchall, from Durham, contributing 44 runs. The ACB U19, despite faltering at one stage at 74-4, reached the target with nine overs to spare and five wickets remaining. The local hero was the hosts' captain, Cameron White, who struck an unbeaten 68 runs coming in at number five; the 18-year-old Victorian, who made his first-class debut against New South Wales last season, had previously returned figures of 10-1-19-4 with his leg-spin bowling. England U19 will play two more games against the ACB U19, on Wednesday 9 January and Friday 11 January, before leaving for the World Cup in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Sunday 13 January. © England & Wales Cricket Board
