ICC Seeks Security Managers

THE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL
is seeking to employ a suitable people to become

Security Managers


The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the governing body for International Test Match and One Day Cricket. As part of the ICC's initiative to eliminate corruption from the game of cricket, the ICC has resolved to appoint 5 security managers to work in conjunction with the ICC Anti Corruption Unit.

Through the Security Managers, ICC and the Anti Corruption Unit will have a presence at all Test Matches and One Day International matches played by the Full Member countries of ICC throughout the world.

It is proposed to appoint the Security Managers on a regional basis so that the primary focus of each Security Manager will be on two of the Full Member countries of ICC. From time to time, Security Managers will be asked to perform their duties in a cricket series involving other countries.

It is proposed to appoint one Security Manager to work with each of the following cricket countries on a regional basis:

  • England and West Indies
  • Bangladesh and Pakistan
  • India and Sri Lanka
  • South Africa and Zimbabwe
  • Australia and New Zealand
Reporting to the Anti Corruption Unit, successful candidates will be responsible for a challenging brief, including:

  • Overseeing, managing, implementing and enforcing all aspects of the ICC Anti Corruption policies within the region.
  • Attending international cricket matches, assisting with local security measures and acting as a deterrent to would be corruptors.
  • Auditing new, additional venues to ensure compliance with minimum-security standards.
  • Assisting with the delivery of educational programs to international cricketers, officials and academies. Giving seminars and lectures wherever necessary.
  • Controlling access to players and officials during international tour and matches.
  • Providing additional confidential and independent means for improper approaches to players, officials and other persons to be reported.
  • Gathering and reporting field intelligence to the Anti Corruption Unit and establishing security networks around the cricket world.
  • Creating a good working relationship with Boards, players, officials and other relevant persons.
  • Ensuring that all Member Boards within the regions are carrying out the ICC Anti Corruption training program and monitoring the written confirmation of that program.
  • Submitting regular report to the ACU at the conclusion of every series and ensuring that all improper approaches or suspicious behaviour are reported to the ACU as soon as they occur
The attributes of the successful will include:
  • Relevant experience in police, services or security occupations.
  • Excellent judgement, discretion and the ability to work in a sensitive environment involving different cultures.
  • The ability to relate to elite cricketers in a non-intrusive and discrete manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a small, select team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and intense public and media scrutiny.
