PTV to televise Quaid-i-Azam Trophy final live 28 February 2002
The final of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy between Karachi Whites and Peshawar, starting Friday here at National Stadium, will be telecast live by Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). The announcement Wednesday comes as a great relief to cricket buffs in the outstation areas, especially in the North West Frontier Province because Peshawar are involved, after last year's fracas between PTV and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). On that occasion, PTV refused to televise the final between Karachi Whites and Lahore Blues at the same venue after PCB turned down a last-minute proposal to change the match pitch to suit the camera crew. Meanwhile, Karachi Whites have named a 17-member squad for the five-day tie. Former Pakistan skipper Moin Khan is expected to lead the home team after taking a three-week break. Squad: Moin Khan (captain), Ghulam Ali, Shadab Kabir, Saeed bin Nasir, Hasan Raza, Mohammad Masroor, Imran Javed, Arif Mahmood, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Hasnain, Ovais Athar, Tanvir Ahmed, Irfanuddin, Adnan Malik, Ariz Kamal, Saif Ashraf and Farhan Iqbal. This year's winners will get a cash award of Rs 100,000 and the runners-up Rs 50,000. There are three individual awards of Rs 10,000 each for the best batsman, best bowler and the best wicket-keeper. © Dawn
