Kenneth Clarke elected Notts President Media Release - 26 February 2002
Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Kenneth Clarke MP was elected as President at the Annual General Meeting last night. Mr Clarke succeeds Richard Cope as the Clubıs President. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Chairman Albert Bocking said: "Kenneth has had a life long interest in cricket. Having been born and educated in Nottingham, he has been a member of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club for many years and has represented the Borough of Rushcliffe, in which Trent Bridge is situated, as a Member of Parliament for over 30 years. "In this capacity he has been a constant source of support to the Club throughout the various development projects we have undertaken, as well as maintaining a keen interest in our performance on the field. We are honoured that Kenneth has accepted our invitation to become President and I hope he will thoroughly enjoy his term of office." Kenneth Clarke will be presiding over another exciting year of events at Trent Bridge, including the opening of the new Fox Road Stand, a NatWest Series floodlit international between England and Sri Lanka, and an npower Test Match between England and India. © Nottinghamshire CCC
