Dawn Australian official to visit next month
23 February 2002

An Australian Cricket Board official will visit Pakistan next month to foresee pre-tour arrangements. A top Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said Friday that the ACB representative's visit will coincide with Jeff Crowe's arrival.

"We have asked the ACB to also send their representative at the same time as Crowe's visit so that the two can assess the facilities at the same time and inform us of their requirements," the spokesman said. He, however, said the tour plans of Crowe and ACB representative were unknown. Crowe is, nevertheless, expected between Feb 26 and March 13.

"The ACB always sends its representative to examine the venues that will be used for the matches and to discuss other issues. The PCB wants to deal with ACB and NZC officials simultaneously." However, the PCB official dismissed impressions that Crowe and the ACB official would be coming to assess security of players.

After the Pakistan government as assured top security for the players, there is no need for any of the representatives to examine security.

The PCB will not allow them to discuss or evaluate its players security. They need to trust Pakistan government's words. "But we will extend full support and cooperation in other areas whether they be their demand for ice tubs or extra practice facilities."
