PCB announces plans for Golden Jubilee Year of Pakistan Test Cricket Pakistan Cricket Board - 22 February 2002
Pakistan completes 50 years of Test Cricket this year. In mid-1952 it was granted Test status by the ICC. In October the same year we played our First Test versus India at Delhi. In this connection, Chairman PCB has approved that the year be commemorated as the Golden Jubilee Year of Pakistan Test Cricket. A Preliminary committee headed by Director PCB and comprising GM Cricket Operations and GM Marketing is drawing up the plans. It is envisaged that all those connected with the rise of Pakistan as a Test Nation, specifically the players and prominent administrators, umpires, etc, will be honoured. Suitable events will be planned, brochures published and momentoes made. Former greats will be incorporated in the plans. Further details will be released in due course. The culmination of the celebrations will fall sometime in October this year.
