World Cup tickets FAQ
12 February 2002

WHAT ARE THE PRICES OF TICKETS?

There are different prices for different games and venues based on the economic realities of South Africa. All prices are posted on our information website www.cricketworldcup.com

WHEN DO TICKETS GO ON SALE?

Packages go on sale from 15 July 2002, and individual tickets from 1 December 2002

WHERE DO THEY GO ON SALE?

There are three ways to buy tickets:

(1) At the venues where 60% of all tickets will go on sale;

(2) On the Internet, where 20 % of all tickets will be on sale, via our information website www.cricketworldcup.com;

(3) Via a Call Centre (the telephone number will be made public early in July on our information website and in notices in the media) where 20% of all tickets will be available.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHICH TEAMS ARE PLAYING WHERE?

The full schedule of matches (54 in all) are posted on our information website www.cricketworldcup.com.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY TICKETS I CAN BUY?

Between 15 July and 1 December, tickets will go on sale in packages only. You may purchase up to a maximum of 6 packages in one or both of the following categories:

(A) Stadium packages which include all the matches at a particular venue;

(B) Follow-the-Team packages to follow the team of your choice through all its Pool matches only.

NOTE 1: If you so choose, you may buy a maximum of 6 Stadium packages per venue and 6 Follow-the-Team packages per team

NOTE 2: For each of the packages you buy, you will be entitled, on a first-come-first-served-basis – due to the limitation of available tickets – to buy a single ticket to one of the following special events:

a. Opening Ceremony in Cape Town on 8 February 2003

b. Opening Match in Cape Town on 9 February

c. Semifinal in Port Elizabeth on 18 March

d. Semifinal in Durban on 20 March

e. Final in Johannesburg on 23 March

NOTE 3: YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ASK FOR ONE OF THE ABOVE SPECIAL SINGLES IF IT IS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE YOU HAVE BOUGHT

NOTE 4: If you buy Stadium packages for Benoni or Pietermaritzburg (who both host only two games each), you are not entitled to purchase special events tickets. The same applies to Stadium packages in Harare, Bulawayo and Nairobi

NOTE 5: A season ticket holder will be entitled to preferential booking ahead of July 15 and is being notified of this by post. These individuals may buy one stadium package for each season ticket held.

CAN I GO TO NEWLANDS ON JULY 15 AND BUY STADIUM PACKAGES FOR KINGSMEAD AND THE WANDERERS?

You may buy Stadium packages for any venue regardless of where you make your purchase, but remember that you are limited to a total of six packages per venue

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL TICKETS I CAN BUY FROM 1 DECEMBER 2002?

You will be entitled to buy a maximum of 6 individual tickets. Please note, that there will only be a limited number of individual tickets available from December 1 because of the priority given to the sale of packages

CAN I USE A CREDIT CARD FOR MY PURCHASES/BY PHONE/ON INTERNET/AT A VENUE. IF SO, CAN I BE CERTAIN THAT MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS WILL BE SAFE AND SECURE?

Credit cards will be accepted for all purchases. Your purchase will only become valid, however, once the credit card purchase has been validated by your credit card company. Credit card details will be protected at all times in the interests of your security.

NOTE: In the interests of security, you will be asked to supply your personal details (address, ID number etc) at the time of your purchase

MAY I PAY FOR MY TICKETS BY CHEQUE?

You may do so. Your purchase, however, will only become valid once the cheque has been cleared by your bank.

NOTE: In the interests of security, you will be asked to supply your personal details (address, ID number etc) at the time of your purchase

HOW DO I COLLECT TICKETS BOUGHT BY PHONE OR INTERNET?

Whichever way you buy your tickets, you will be asked to supply a delivery address. Your tickets will be couriered to that address in November 2002. Should your address change before then, you will need to advise us via email to: 2003icccwctickets@cricket.co.za

NOTE: In the interests of security, you will be asked to supply your personal details (address, ID number etc) at the time of your purchase

DO I GET MY TICKETS WHEN I BOOK THEM?

In all cases, your tickets will be couriered to you in November 2002

I CAN ONLY AFFORD TO TAKE TWO WEEKS OFF FROM WORK. CAN I BUY TICKETS FOR INDIVIDUAL GAMES AT DIFFERENT VENUES DURING THAT PERIOD?

No. In order to ensure that you have tickets for the games of your choice you will need to buy the relevant package i.e. Stadium package or Follow-the-Team package

If you then have tickets in your package which you are unable to use, we would urge you to donate them to a special TICKET TRUST that we will set up in order to judiciously distribute unwanted tickets to bona fide cricketers in disadvantaged areas who otherwise might not attend World Cup cricket matches. Closer to the time, we will make an announcement on our information website and in the media as to how these donations can be made

I ONLY WANT TO ATTEND CERTAIN SUPER SIX GAMES, THE SEMIFINALS AND THE FINAL. CAN I GET TICKETS FOR THESE IN JULY?

Yes, but you will have to buy the Stadium packages that incorporate them. Again you may want to donate unwanted tickets from these packages to our TICKET TRUST for distribution to bona fide cricketers in disadvantaged areas

IF I FOLLOW MY TEAM THROUGH THE POOL, HOW DO I GET TICKETS TO FOLLOW THEM THROUGH THE SUPER SIX AND HOPEFULLY INTO THE SEMIS AND THE FINAL?

Tickets for these matches will be sold, on a first come first served basis, immediately after the qualifying teams are known. We will try to accommodate as many fans as possible who have bought a Follow-the-Team package for a team that moves on beyond the Pool section. BUT THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES

I DO NOT LIKE YOUR PACKAGES SYSTEM. I AM PREPARED TO PAY A HIGHER PRICE IN JULY IN ORDER TO BOOK INDIVIDUAL TICKETS. IS THIS NOT A GOOD IDEA?

Sorry, our ticketing policy does not allow for this

IF I BUY TICKETS BUT FIND I CAN'T USE THEM, IS THERE A WAY TO SELL THEM BACK CLOSER TO THE TOURNAMENT OR DURING IT?

Sorry, our ticketing policy does not allow for this. If you then have tickets that you are unable to use, we would urge you to donate them to a special TICKET TRUST that we will set up in order to judiciously distribute unwanted tickets to bona fide cricketers in disadvantaged areas who otherwise might not attend World Cup cricket matches. Closer to the time, we will make an announcement on our information website and in the media as to how these donations can be made

IS THERE ANY REASON WHY I SHOULD NOT BUY OR SELL TICKETS ON THE BLACK MARKET?

You are strongly advised against entering into this practice as there will be strict policing of ticket touts or scalpers by the most sophisticated security network yet mounted at a cricket world cup. Severe penalties may be imposed on people buying or selling tickets in an unauthorized manner. If it becomes known that certain tickets are being touted, these could be cancelled from the system. You are therefore strongly advised to buy tickets through the authorized system

WHAT'S TO STOP ME ENTERING A GROUND ON MY TICKET, THEN PASSING IT BACK THROUGH THE FENCE SO THAT MY FRIEND/S CAN ENTER ON THE SAME TICKET?

A ticket will be bar-coded to pass through special turnstiles in such a way as to permit entry/exit only to its holder. Once a ticket has been entered through a turnstile it may not be entered again until it has been exited through a turnstile. The computerised ticketing system is the most secure and sophisticated yet deployed at a sports event in South Africa

DOES MY TICKET ENTITLE ME TO PARKING FACILITIES AT THE GROUND?

Unfortunately not. There will be no parking at the grounds because of Traffic Free Zones around all venues. You are encouraged to use the Park-and-Ride system that will be in operation to make for free and easy passage to the grounds
