Milo Trophy final this Friday
Canterbury Cricket Association - 11 December 2002
The 2002/03 Milo Trophy final will be played on Friday between last year's winner Elmwood and first-time finalists Amberley. The game will be played at 1pm at Amberley Domain, next to their school.
In the semi-finals Amberley beat Tai Tapu by 30 runs. Tai Tapu managed to bowl well, with Hannah McLeod, Gina Hart and Lochie Davidson bowling tightly and keeping the Amberley total down. Amberley bowlers Stephen Clyne, Seirra Sunbeam and Ryan Norman all took wickets and kept Tai Tapu runs to a minimum.
In the other semi-final Elmwood accounted for Avonhead by 23 runs. Avonhead had the home advantage, but were pinned down by some accurate bowling and never really got going. Elmwood were never really pushed to surpass their target.
Friday's game promises to be a stunning town versus country encounter. Elmwood will take a lot from the experience of last year's final. They have been to this stage before and know what to expect. Amberley are in uncharted territory but they have the home advantage and have shown what a class outfit they are in their games to date. They are also extremely well led by Jed Robertson.
