Mumbai register massive 136-run win over Saurashtra Staff Reporter - 10 December 2002
Mumbai cruised to a massive 136-run victory over Saurashtra in their Ranji one-day tie at Pune, with leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule skittling out the Saurashtra lower-middle order with a haul of four for 25. Winning the toss at the Deccan Gymkhana Ground, Mumbai benefited from Robin Morris' 76 off 92 balls (9x4, 1x6) at the top of the order. The opener played patiently and was an apt foil for Nishit Shetty's quickfire 64 (51b, 9x4, 1x6). After Mumbai reached 320 for seven in their allotted 50 overs, Bahutule turned in a fine spell of leg-spin bowling to help dismiss Saurashtra for 184 in 43.5 overs. Connor Wiliams century sees Baroda home A patient century from Test discard Connor Williams saw Baroda chase down the relatively challenging target of 281 in only 46.4 overs, giving them five points from the Ranji one-dayer against Gujarat at Pune. Gujarat, asked to bat by Baroda, got to 280 for seven in their 50 overs, with Amit Sood (69, 74b, 10x4), Kirat Damani (89, 118b, 8x4) and skipper Mukund Parmar (60, 49b, 6x4, 2x6) all making fifties. But Gujarat's bowlers could make few inroads into the Baroda line-up; apart from Williams' 110 (126b, 13x4), Satyajit Parab made 59 (69b, 3x4, 1x6) and R Chandorkar a quick 45 to guide Baroda to the win. © CricInfo
