Foy stars in England's win
Staff Reporter - 9 December 2002

A sparkling double ton from Nathan Foy helped England get the better of Pakistan in a league match at the Guru Nanak College Ground, Chennai on Tuesday.

After being put in by Pakistan, England went on to pile an imposing 432-5 in 40 overs.

The men who led the England charge were Foy, who went on to register the highest individual score in the tournament, and Timothy Guttridge, who made a century. Foy made 232 off just 125 balls with 10 fours while Guttridge ended up with 102 off 63 balls with eight fours. The other English batsman to make a mark was Adam Benjamin who made an unbeaten run-a-ball 37.

Pakistan's task was never going to be easy from there on and despite an unbeaten hundred from Ashraf Bhatti (109*) and fifties from Mohammad Shabaz and Tariq Samuel, they found the task beyond them. Their final score of 373-7 in 40 overs, though, ensured that England only gained four points for their victory.
