Matthew Maynard has been included in England`s provisional squad of 30 for the 2003 World Cup in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
"I`m delighted to still be in the thoughts of the England selectors," said the 36 year old batsman on hearing of his inclusion. "It`s nice to know that they still think I`m good enough to be included on the short list, but I`m not holding my breath about being in the final fifteen. There are a lot of talented younger players in the squad, and if another senior player was injured, I might be lucky enough to be called in."
Maynard, who recently captained England`s side in the Hong Kong Sixes, is the only Glamorgan player to be included in the squad for next spring`s competition.
