Leather on willow all over Auckland
Auckland Cricket Association - 6 December 2002

The Brooke Walkers, Matt Hornes and Mark Richardsons of the future will be on display from next week as Auckland Cricket's VECTOR district age group tournaments commence.

The 2002/03 VECTOR tournaments will be held at various venues around Auckland, and will feature a mix of one-day and two-day games.

Almost 50 teams from around Auckland will be competing in next week's competitions, meaning upwards of 650 boys and girls will be engaged in cricketing combat under the VECTOR and Auckland Cricket banners.

VECTOR will also be involved in giveaways of Gunn & Moore bats and Swing King cricket balls, whilst all players will don a special edition tournament polo shirt, all a part of the company's generous sponsorship contribution.

In the period from December 8-13, 2002, five VECTOR age group tournaments will be held, as follows:

Under 15 A: Ken Maunder Park & Eastdale Rd Reserve, 8-13 December 2002

Under 15 B: Eastdale Rd Reserve, 9-13 December 2002

Under 17 A: Te Atatu Park, 8-13 December 2002

Under 17 B: Keith Hay Park, 9-13 December 2002

Sec School Girls: Melville Park, 9-13 December 2002

Selectors will be keenly observing the aspiring cricketers, making their representative picks for a number of National, North Island and Regional squads. These events will be held later in the cricketing calendar.

In the last week of December one of the highlights on the Auckland Cricket calendar will be held - the 50th anniversary VECTOR Under-14 tournament. More details on this tournament will be sent out closer to the event.
