Fazal named skipper of U-15 Sports Correspondent - 5 December 2002
Middle-order batsman Fazal Mohammad Khan has been named as captain of the 15-member Pakistan team which will take part in the World Cup Under-15 cricket tournament to be held in United Arab Emirates from Dec 7 to 21. Adnan Raza, also a middle-order batsman is named as vice captain. The team comprises three openers, three fast bowlers and three middle-order batsmen each. Two spinners, two all-rounders and one wicket-keepe r are also included in the team which departs for UAE on Dec 13. Besides Fazal and Adnan the third middle-order batsman is Suleman Ali. The three openers are Fayyaz Ahmad, Yasir Arafat and Salman Akbar Butt. Mohammad Omar Khaliq, Nasir Ahmad and Jamshed Ahmad are the fast bowlers. Fahad Zaman as off-spinner and Mansoor Amjad as leg-spinner are the spinners in the team. Nawaz Sardar and Raza Ali Bhatti are two all-rounder. Awais Ahmad is the lone wicket-keeper batsman included in the squad. Sultan Rana, also the member of the national junior selection committee, will accompany the team as manager with former Test cricketer Aaqib Javed as coach, Zaheer Abbas as batting consultant and Dr Sohail Saleem as doctor. The squad will reassemble at Lahore on Dec 10 where it will hold a short training camp before leaving for UAE on Dec 13.
