Somerset Under 14's have had a hectic few weeks, and have enjoyed mixed fortunes. Against Devon at Blundells School the hosts batted first and scored 223 for 9 wickets. In reply Somerset were all out for 189, with Stuart Butt top scoring with 85. Against Wiltshire at Bath Cricket Club, Somerset batted first and were all out for 150, with James Fear top scoring with 46. In reply Wiltshire were all out for 101, to give Somerset victory by 49 runs. The Under 14's were beaten by three wickets by Yorkshire at Millfield School. Batting first the hosts were all out for 144, with Sturat Butt making 45 and James Fear 24. When they batted Yorkshire scored the required runs for the loss of seven wickets. Against Hampshire at Glastonbury CC, Somerset batted first and scored 206 for 4, with James Fear making an impressive unbeaten 121, and Peter Auld 31. In reply Hampshire were bowled out for 149 with James taking 5 for 14, to give Somerset victory by 57 runs. The Under 14's played three matches at the King's College Cricket Festival and enjoyed mixed fortunes. They beat Oxfordshire by eight wickets, with James Fear making an unbeaten 85.In their second game they were beaten by Devon by 111 runs, and their last game against Cornwall was rained off. When they entertained Gloucestershire at Lansdown CC, the visitors batted first and scored 204 for 7 with Max Waller taking 3 for 19. In reply Somerset were all out for 180, of which Stuart Butt made 73 and Peter Auld 30. © SOMERSET
