Chief executive Peter Anderson has today revealed that Marcus Trescothick may play for the Somerset XI which is due to play against England Under-19s at Seaton Cricket Club this coming Sunday. The England star has been missing from the scene after damaging his thumb whilst fielding for his county against Worcestershire in the C and G semi final in mid July. For the first time today Marcus was practicing some fielding routines with a soft ball, and if he does play at Seaton on Sunday he will only bat. The Somerset boss told me: "Marcus is seeking permission from the England management team to play at Seaton on Sunday. As groundsman at the club this puts pressure on me to produce a flat wicket. I now know what Phil Frost feels like!" Marcus's presence at Seaton Cricket Club on Sunday for the 50-over match which gets underway at 10.45am will no doubt swell the numbers who attend this interesting fixture. © SOMERSET
