Somerset Under-19s coach Peter Robinson received official notification from the ECB this morning that his side had reached the quarter-finals of the two-day competition by just one point.

The Under-19s will now play against Staffordshire at Shifnal on August 20 and 21, and should they be successful will then play either Essex or Cambridgeshire at Uxbridge later in the month.

`Robbo' told me: "They have played well this season and thoroughly deserve to go through to the next stage of the competition. The only trouble is Somerset seconds are playing against Kent at Beckenham at the same time, and a lot of the Under-19s also play for the Seconds, so I will have to sort things out with Mark Garaway."
