'This is another crucial game for us' says Shine ahead of NUL game at Canterbury

Somerset Sabres will be looking to continue their winning one-day form in the NUL League when they take on Kent Spitfires at the St Lawrence Ground at Canterbury today.

Despite their resounding victory over Glamorgan Dragons at Cardiff last weekend, the Sabres still find themselves deep in relegation trouble and will be looking for four more valuable points from the match.

The last time that the two sides met in the competition was at Tunbridge Wells when the game ended in a tie, thanks to Rob Turner's innovative shot off the last ball of the innings.

The game will also have a little bit of extra edge after Somerset snatched victory from Kent in the semi finals of the Cheltenham and Gloucester trophy last week to earn themselves a return visit to Lord's at the end of the month.

Somerset have named a squad of thirteen for the match, which will be the eleven who played in the championship match plus Steffan Jones and Simon Francis.

Last night Kevin Shine told me: "We will not name the team until the morning , but Steffan Jones will definitely play, so the final selection will be quite interesting."

He concluded: "This is another crucial game for us. We need to win at least 50% of our remaining games to have any chance of survival."
