Despite ruled out of the Second Test against India by a side strain, Simon Jones received his second cap within the space of ten days as he was awarded his county cap from Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens yesterday during the tea interval of the county`s Norwich Union League game against Somerset.
"I received a call from Steve James to come along to Cardiff today, even though I wasn`t playing," said a delighted Simon. "I thought that it was just to have a chat about playing in the Test last week and to see the rest of the the Glamorgan boys."
"I was really quite surprised when Steve said that I was going to receive my county cap. I`m very pleased and feel proud to have been awarded it."
Mike Kasprowicz, Glamorgan`s overseas player who is also nursing an injury, also received his county cap during the tea interval of yesterday`s game against Somerset.
