Somerset's hopes of getting their Benson & Hedges campaign back on track were washed away at the County Ground when today's group match against Glamorgan was abandoned without a ball being bowled. After their disappointing defeat by Warwickshire on Sunday, the Cidermen urgently needed two points from today's game. Instead they had to settle for just one, after heavy rain set in before the game, which was abandoned just after lunch. Today's result leaves Somerset needing to win their three remaining group matches to have a real chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition. After the game was called off all rounder Ian Blackwell told me: "We were disappointed that we couldn't get out there to play today, because we needed the two points that we would have got from a win. However we have got one, and now we have to win our last three games, starting with Northants here on Friday. After that we will have Marcus Trescothick and Andy Caddick back for the last two group games." Somerset coach Kevin Shine told me: "It was a shame that we didn't play because we wanted the points today. However it looks like the bad weather will be with us for a lot of the week and could affect other games in the group. We have got three games left that we must win, and as it looks likely that the final places may well depend on run rate we need some high scoring games." © SOMERSET
