Former Gloucestershire scorer dies
Media Release - 19 April 2002

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is sad to announce the death of former County Scorer A.G.(Bert) Avery, who died peacefully at home on Thursday 18 April, aged 84.

Bert worked for Shell at Avonmouth for 40 years before taking on the role of Scorer for Gloucestershire in 1971, a post he held until 1987. Since that time he continued to work for the Club in the capacity of Statistician and Museum Curator, until very recently coming in to work every morning, rain or shine. He was a passionate supporter of Shirehampton Cricket Club as well as Gloucestershire.

The funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, High Street, Shirehampton at 12.15 on Monday 29 April 2002.

Family flowers only, but donations if required to St Peter's Hospice c/o Stenner and Hill, Funeral Directors, 2 Pembroke Road, Shirehampton, Bristol, BS11 9SQ.

The Club office will be closed from 11.30am to 1.30 in order to attend the funeral.
