Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, UAE, Canada, New Zealand and in various

How did you first get involved in cricket? When I was in school, I
started playing cricket with my friends for fun
Who had the greatest influence on your early career and why? Mr.
Sushil Chaugai, our club president, because he not only coached me but also
showed me the correct way to do things easily. And of course MY FAMILY for
the support they provided me
What is the most memorable moment of your career? There are many but
among them winning the under 19 ACC Trophy tops the list along with the win
over Pakistan & Bangladesh in the recent under 19 World Cup
What is the most disappointing moment of your career?
Last year in Pakistan in the under 17 tournament when we could win only one
match and my individual performance was not satisfying at all As I could
take only one wicket in three matches.
How has Nepal's performance at the Under 19 World Cup affected the
popularity of cricket in Nepal?
Well, it has done a lot. It's really a great feeling to be the captain of
that wonderful team. Nowadays people here know each and every player of that
team and they give us a lot of respect which is amazing. Now the general
public has started following the local games also which is a good sign of
its growing popularity. Due to that performance in the World Cup all the
players are getting a lot of appreciation which is good for the future of
this game in Nepal.
Which of the players in the Nepali under 19 team do you think has tbe
best chance of progressing to the senior national team?
Kanishka Chaugai, Bardan Chalise, Shakti Gauchan and few more as they have
already shown their good talent in the international level.
You have already been touted as a potential captain of the senior
Nepalese national team - what do you enjoy about the captaincy?
I like the command that captaincy provides. Being the captain you have the
right to make the decisions for the welfare of your team and it gives even
more pleasure when your team-mates support you and admire you as a captain
What do you regard as your strengths in both batting and bowling?
My techniques to play with the straight bat (batting) and in bowling my
accuracy and my stamina to bowl long spells with good control.
What do you regard as your weaknesses in both batting and bowling?
In batting, my temperament because I tend to lose my concentration quite
often & in bowling my pace and swing in air because I need to work on both
of them
What should be done to improve the standard of cricket at the non-Test
level?
-More international events should be organized and more playing
opportunities so that they could get more match temperament and improve
their game also. And a little bit of financial aid should be provided to
them so that they could give more time to cricket
What single thing would provide the greatest boost to the popularity of
cricket in Nepal?
The day when Nepal will start playing against the big names like Sachin
Tendulkar, Brian Lara etc, the popularity of this game will reach its peak
in Nepal.
What should be done to improve the standard of cricket in Nepal?
More international events like the ACC Trophy should be organized and
players should get more opportunities to play good competitive matches and
there also should be some financial benefits for the players so that they
can take this game as a career.

international level?
Steve Tikolo (Kenya)

level?
Paresh Luniya and Sanjam Regmi (Nepal)
Which aspect of cricket at the non-Test level has most improved since the
increase in the number of internationals?
Well, every aspect has improved a lot, whether it's batting or bowling or
fielding, all of these aspects have improved to a great extent, because
players have started to plan their cricket and has also started to work on
their weaknesses
What is your favourite food? Anything that is home-made. Other than
that, burgers and pizza
