Along with a hard core of Somerset supporters, chief executive Peter Anderson braved the elements to watch his team play against Cardiff UCCE at Millfield School this weekend.

After watching several of his team performing well out on the field, I asked about the recent announcement made by the ECB that England stars Andy Caddick and Marcus Trescothick would be made available for the last two Benson and Hedges games and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Championship match against Yorkshire.

Mr Anderson told me: "The question is, will we want them back? From a wider perspective we are obviously here to support England in all they do. However if Caddick and Trescothick are only available for one game, why should we be doing it? If it were for more than one game then we might think about it.

"We need to have detailed discussions with the Kevin Shine the coach and Jamie Cox the captain before we make any decisions."
