Radford joins handful of new signings at Andover Andover Advertiser - 9 April 2002
Ex-Middlesex county player Toby Radford has signed for Andover - one of four newcomers to the town club this year. Roger Miller, who takes over the first XI captaincy from Jerry Hayward this summer, is thrilled about Radford's signing and the other newcomers to London Road include former O.T. & Romsey all-rounder Richard Taylor, Martin Docis from Cove, Lee Wateridge and South African Gareth Tate. Tate, an off-spinner, is relishing the chance of playing in the Southern Premier League and nets at the indoor cricket school at Dummer have been well attended by Miller's squad. The new skipper is excited about Andover's prospects this season. "The blend of youth and experience will serve Andover well this year," he said. "The new signings will compliment the likes of Jerry Hayward, Ian Langdown, Mark Miller and Dean Woodhouse and the average age of the side will be only 21 with exciting youngsters such as Matt Hooper and James Manning in the side." Miller however does not expect Andover to be challenging for league honours this season but promises that the town team will be competitive in all departments. "I am looking forward to the challenge," said Miller. Andover 2nd XI also has a new skipper with club stalwart Tim Keighley taking charge and he too is looking forward ot the challenge. He too will have an exciting blend of youth and experience and hopes the side will be challenging for honours in Hampshire County Division One. © Andover Advertiser
