Warwickshire appoint player/coach for women's cricket Media Release - 8 April 2002
The Warwickshire Cricket Board are pleased to announce Taryn Keir as the new player/coach for the Warwickshire Ladies team and youth squads. Female cricket is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and Warwickshire is definitely a reflection of this with over 80 players in the female development squads. Keir's appointment is a sign of the times and reflects the next stage in the development of female cricket in Warwickshire. Australian born Keir, has an outstanding cricketing cv, representing New South Wales Women's Under 18s and Under 21s squads, she is now currently playing first grade cricket for Mosman Woman's Cricket Club in Australia. Keir has been coaching cricket since 1993 and holds a Level II coaching award from the Australian Coaching Council. Richard Cox, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire said "We are delighted that Taryn will be joining us for the summer programme as a coach to our girls County teams and to play in the senior women's team in this year's county championship. Taryn is an experienced coach and will bring much needed stability to the senior teams this summer. The squad will have a lower age profile than previously due to the fast tracking of the Under 15s and 17s into the senior squad and Development XI. Her experience in Australia will help to develop the girls she coaches and plays alongside in all formats of cricket." © Warwickshire Cricket Board
