Mathew Sinclair to replace Lou Vincent at Sharjah Cup
New Zealand Cricket - 4 April 2002

State Central Stags batsman, Mathew Sinclair, has been recalled to the CLEAR Black Caps for the Sharjah Cup tournament next week after Lou Vincent was ruled out late yesterday with injury.

Vincent was struck on the chest by a ball from England bowler Andrew Caddick during the first innings of the final National Bank Test at Eden Park. Initially it was thought that Vincent had severe bruising of his rib cage but an x-ray has revealed bruising to his left lung and a rupture of his left airway.

Vincent will not travel to Sharjah for the one-day tournament with Sri Lanka and Pakistan from 8 to 17 April. He is, however, expected to be fit for the tour to Pakistan which follows from 18 April.

Sinclair takes Vincent's place in the side for the Sharjah Cup. Sinclair has played 19 One-Day Internationals at an average of 29.33.

Meanwhile the New Zealand selectors have named Craig McMillan as vice-captain for the tournament.
