Glamorgan County Cricket Club may already have the bottle to succeed this season – now they have extra fizz too.
Soft drinks giant Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd (Wales & West Region) has announced a new three year sponsorship deal to support the 1997 County Champions in their quest for success.
After a successful partnership over the past year, Coke brand Powerade will continue to be the club's official sports drink, as well as team sponsors of the County's Sunday League team, The Glamorgan Dragons.
The deal places Glamorgan in illustrious company - Powerade is also the official drink of the Italian Football Team and the Australian Rugby and Cricket Teams.
Announcing the sponsorship, Gerry Stacey, Regional Director of Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (Wales & West Region) said, "We're continuing our involvement with Glamorgan as part of our long term strategy for sport.
"For Coke, sponsorship is about so much more than signing the contract and handing over the cheque. Our support is, and should be, interactive. We've worked well as a team with Glamorgan over the past year and I'm confident the partnership will continue to be a successful one over the following three years."
Mike Fatkin, Chief Executive of Glamorgan County Cricket Club, added, "We're delighted to be associated with Coca-Cola. They've been proactive in helping Glamorgan promote its image and commercial potential in one-day cricket through their Powerade brand and marketing support."
"One of our aims is to reach out to a younger audience, to join in the excitement of the game. There is great synergy between the Powerade brand and the Glamorgan Dragons in the image we are aiming to portray."
With the new season about to get underway, newly-promoted Glamorgan are hoping to challenge for the Sunday League First Division title, and bounce straight back up to the County Championship First Division, so Powerade's motto - "Get Up, Stay Up" could not be more apt.
