A 10-wicket match haul by Azhar Mahmood helped Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) notch up a five-wicket victory over Allied Bank Limited (ABL) in the Patron's Trophy match at Sialkot's Saga Stadium, according to information made available here Sunday. The Pakistan allrounder followed up his three for 45 in the first innings with seven for 55 as the bankers were bundled out for 214 after having started the third day at 51 for two. PIA, who had earlier replied to ABL's 186 with 224, were left to chase 180 for victory which they achieved losing five wickets. Yousuf Youhana slammed his second half century of the match while hitting 52. He had scored 54 in the first innings. Sohail Jaffar chipped in with 42 while Ghulam Ali scored 32. Allied Bank's main run-getter was opener Usman Tariq who missed his century by six runs. He fell at 94 to paceman Fazle Akbar who finished with two for 64. Wicketkeeper Humayun Farhat slammed a 62-ball 69. Test reject Moin Khan had an excellent match. Not only his team began the competition on the right foot, he accounted for six batsmen behind the wickets and contributed 27 with the bat in the first innings. © Dawn
